What is Obesity?

Obesity is defined as abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that may cause impairment of health. We can measure obesity through Body Mass Index (BMI). It is defined as a person’s weight in kilograms divided by the square of his height in meters (kg/m2). For adults, WHO defines overweight and obesity as follows:

● When BMI is greater than or equal to 25 it is called Overweight.

● When BMI is greater than or equal to 30 it is called Obesity.

Obesity occurs when more calories are consumed through food than are burnt by the body. Eventually, you look disproportionate and end up looking for ways to lose weight. But, the issues that obesity brings to people is way beyond just aesthetic. It happens to invite hordes of medical conditions to your body. Therefore, it is of sheer concern to ward off those unwanted fat components from your body in order to achieve a healthier life.
