What is Heel Pain?

Heel Pain usually occurs under the heel or just behind it where the Achilles tendon connects to the heel bone. Sometimes, the side of the heel may be affected as well. It is an irritation or inflammation of the band of tough tissue connecting the heel bone to the toes.

Calcaneal Spur or Heel Spur is a condition that causes the formation of a pointed bony outgrowth on the underside of the heel created by a Calcium deposit. Heel spurs usually extend by half-inch and may result in heel pain. Heel Spur or Calcaneal Spur can be painless too but it may increases the risk of walking abnormalities.

Plantar Fasciitis involves the inflammation of a thick band of tissue that runs across the bottom of the foot, connecting the heel bone to the toes. The condition typically causes a stabbing pain in the heel and most of the people generally feel it when they first stand up in the morning. Either after prolonged rest or after severe walking or running, the condition recurs.
