Bronchitis is an infection or inflammation of the airways that are connected with our lungs. It can be particularly dangerous for the elderly and those with a history of lung diseases. If untreated, it can spread into the lungs and can cause pneumonia, considerably damaging lung function. However, through proper treatment and medications, the irritation and trouble caused by Bronchitis can be resolved.

What is Bronchitis?

Bronchitis happens to be one of the predominant diseases associated with the respiratory system. When inflammation on the inner linings of the bronchial tract (the tube that carries air from nasal openings to lungs)happens and it gets swelled up, the condition is known as bronchitis. As a result, a sudden blockage occurs in the pipeline and the air passage gets interrupted which causes mild to severe breathing issue. Along with the breathing issue, there comes cough and mucus formation that tend to never end.

In general, bronchitis shows mild symptoms and takes a span of a couple of weeks to get cured. If the cough and breathing trouble persist more than three weeks, then you are heading towards advanced infected conditions. Depending on the disease pattern, there are two types of bronchitis -1) Acute bronchitis 2) Chronic Bronchitis.

Acute Bronchitis:Acute bronchitis comes during theseason changes and frames its ground on respiratory viral infections.

Chronic Bronchitis:: Chronic bronchitis is a prolonged condition where you tend of get cough and cold every now and then.

Due to the irritation in the lining of the bronchial tubes, sore throat may happen

Production of mucus which can be clear or green in colour, sometimes streaked with blood

Wheezing that won’t go away as the air passages get swelled and clogged with mucus

Running nose and nasal congestion happen when excess mucus is produced

If the infection persists for prolonged period, it can cause fever or chills and also chest discomfort
