Premature Greying

Hair greying is considered to be an inevitable part of ageing. Change in hair colour occurs when melanin (a pigment that adds colour to hair) ceases to be produced in the hair root. New hair emerging from such root grows without colour; this is called greying of hair or Achromotrichia. This normally begins in the mid-twenties in men and late twenties in women although a lot of individual variation is seen. It is still not very clear why some people grey early and others later, but heredity plays a key role.
