These 5 Simple Habits Can Save You From Heart Attack

1. Drink warm water before going to bed – A glass of warm water before sleeping can prevent the chances of heart attack and stroke, by killing the streptococcal bacteria in the oral cavity, which is responsible for plaque formation in the arteries. The National Institutes of Health clearly links oral bacteria to atherosclerotic plaque that causes heart attack.   
 
2. Take Isabgol daily – Damage caused by fatty food, red meat and whole milk can be abated by the consumption of Isabgol (psyllium husk) immediately after their intake. According to the Harvard Heart Letter, psyllium husk contains soluble fibre, which binds cholesterol in the digestive system and drags them out of the body before they enter the circulatory system.
 
3. Manage your stress– Stress is one of the major factors causing heart attack. You can keep stress under check by taking 3 minutes of deep breath thrice a day. In case of a panic attack, do an extra 3 minutes breathing to relax your nerves. Inculcate positive thoughts, avoid haste and try to get enough sleep for stress management.  
 
4. Practise 45 minutes of physical activity – Physical activity is directly linked to cardiovascular health. Exercising for 45 minutes, 5 days a week is ideal. Avoid sitting for a prolonged period of time.  
 
5. Keep Diabetes, Hypertension and Cholesterol under check – Raised blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol increases the risk of heart attack. Keeping them under check is the best possible way to ensure the prevention of a heart attack.
